[Comic Review] Amazing Spider-Man #697

The Amazing Spider-Man #697All I can say is, I cannot wait to see how Marvel plans on wrapping up Amazing Spider-Man. With only three issues left to go, I’m more than excited to see what the creative team behind the title are going to come up with to tie things together and ring in Superior Spider-Man.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #697, it seems the Hobgoblin story arc is at an end, with just enough to give off plenty of possibilities for the next arc and the end of this series.

The Hobgoblin vs. Hobgoblin scenario ended a little lackluster, and to tell you the truth, I was hoping for a little bit more. In the end, they betrayed one another, or rather, Kingsley won out with a cheap shot that resulted in the “current” Hobgoblin working under his employment (he takes a percentage). Not the greatest nor the best way to end it in my opinion. There was hope for this story, but, unfortunately it left me shrugging my shoulders with an “eh.”

The artwork was so-so. Nothing spectacular and nothing overly poor.

However, what got me hooked was several dropped hints as to what is going to take place in the next three books. Doc Ock’s little golden minions. Which also means another favorite villain of mine will hopefully be returning, at least for a time.

Rating: 5.5/10 Gingered Digits.

Reasoning: Story (.5), Artwork (1), Current Plot (1), Climax (0), Character Portrayal (1), Plot Development for Next Arc (2)
