[Comic Review] Harvet #1

Harvest #1One of a handful of issues I’ve nabbed this week. Image‘s Harvest, issue #1, has a few things going for it, and several things that do not.

I know I’m a little slow on the uptake as far as this series goes, as the first issue came out in August of this year. But, when available, I prefer to start at the beginning and go from there. Hence, my two months of straggling behind.

This series is inked beautifully…if you like blood. It’s a creepy, thriller-horror from the get go. It starts out with a great flashback. No spoilers, but…it puts ice in the bathtub and a missing kidney to shame. But from there on out, it’s too and fro.

Several characters are introduced in just a few short pages. Flashbacks galore. And, don’t forget to throw in a drug-induced hallucination to wrap things up. It was difficult to get into and immerse yourself in. It even leaves you feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything being put on your place and shoved in your face right from the get-go.

Overall, it has the beginnings of what appears to be a good series. I’m interested and willing to pick up issue #2 and #3, but, if for nothing else, the eye candy is rather nice.

Rating: 7/10 Gingered Digits.
